Information and Advice

Are you living in Basel without a permit? Even if you are living here illegally, you do have rights and you can make a better life for yourself!

Do you know these rights and do you know how you can improve your situation here? Do you have any questions about living in Basel? Do you need advice and information? Would you like to talk about your worries and fears? Do you want to get organised politically?

Since being founded in 2002, the Anlaufstelle für Sans-Papiers has provided a protected setting for people living in Basel without a residence permit (so-called ‘Undocumented People’ or ‘Sans-Papiers’) to be able to meet and get support. We offer advice on topics related to living in Basel without a permit. We also help Sans-Papiers organise themselves and make their voice and their demands heard. We are politically active trying to improve Sans-Papiers’ lives. We are privately funded. Our advice is strictly confidential and is free of charge.

The Anlaufstelle für Sans-Papiers offers people without a residence permit a range of services where they can get help or get involved. Our Information and Advice centre is open to everyone on a walk-in basis and you don’t need to obtain an appointment in advance. We have events where you can get information on getting married or on health insurance. In addition, we offer in-depth consultations to help you improve your specific situation.

We organise city tours and excursions. We provide information on topics such as work and rights in the workplace or stop-and-search operations by the police. We offer support for people applying for a regularisation of their residential status. We have group meetings and general assemblies where you can get together with others in a similar situation.

We are happy to inform you personally about all our services. Just come to one of our Information and Advice sessions on Tuesdays or get in touch otherwise.
